Why/ Special

What is SPLHash? - SPLHash is the Sunshine coast Powell river Lund Hash House Harriers, an irregular hash event in Lund, BC.  Click on the image below to see photos and write-up from 2008.

Where is it held? - at the SunLund Campground, run by your hash hosts ACD and Nipple Detector (email  info@sunlund.ca) The campsites will be open for hashers over the long weekend even though the web site says they are closed until May 1st.

What does it cost? we're keeping it bare bones:

  • $25 until Feb 29
  • $30 until Mar 31
  • $35 after that
  • Trash is extra at $10

What do I get?

  • Run
  • Turkey Dinner
  • Beer/Wine/Cider until the end of the circle
  • free camping and breakfast on Sunday.

What do I need to bring? - Anything else you want to eat or drink for the weekend. If you're camping a tent is useful.

Where do I stay? - It's at a campground... with 2 cabins (the Discovery Cabin that has 2 units, one that has 2 beds, and one with 1 queen sized bed), and the Camper’s Cabin that is a cozy small 7'  x 7' cabin that sleep 2 people comfortably).  Click here for details on cabins.   Also check their page for further details.  Lund also has the Historic Lund Hotel.   Click here for the results of a 2 night stay at the Lund Hotel, which can take you to online reservationsOther accommodations such as cabins and B&B are listed here.

How do I register? - Print out and complete this SPLHash Registration form, or get one from Jonners or Lakey at the next Hash/Bash. We're happy to collect your forms and payment from you to save you the postage.

What else do you do? - Gather seafood, eat seafood, repeat. There's host of other things to do. See http://www.lundbc.ca/lundactivities.htm, or just sit, relax and read.

Do I need to bring sunglasses? - It's called the Sunshine Coast, so no. A toque, thermals and mitts will be more appropriate. Any questions - let us know!

How to get there.

Friday morning travel 2 1/2 hours north up the Island Highway (#1) to BC Ferries Comox Little River Terminal, following the signs taking exit 117 at Comox, and catching the 10:10 AM BC Ferries departure to Powel River (south of Lund).

To get to the terminal:
  • Take the Comox Valley Pkwy to Cumberland, turn left on Cumberland, and at the roundabout  turn right onto Wilemar Ave then immediate left onto 17th St. that borders the park.
  • Take 17th to the bridge and turn left at Comox Rd (follow the Ferries sign).
  • Turn right at Ryan Rd.
  • Turn left at Anderton Rd  which turns into Ellenor Rd leading to the Ferry Terminal.
BC Ferries urges passengers to arrive at the terminal at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled sailing time to ensure staff have time to process all vehicles in the lineup, so you ought to leave Victoria by 7 AM to avoid speeding to reach Comox on time.  The next ferry is at 3:15 PM. Here is the BC Ferries Comox - Powell River Scheduke - crossing takes 1 hour 20 minutes.
