The National Vodka Day Hash - Run #468
October 4, 2008

In the plain gravel lot of the park now called Lambrick, next to the simple community hall that once held a wedding reception for a Cock Killer yet to be born, the Hash gathered at the call of High Beams and her co-hare Sister Slow (Cooker). The wind did howl, but the rains held back, as the rabble gathered - and waited - for the hare, not Slow Cooker, but High Beams.

No virgins attending, just a visitor who'd actually dropped by before, and introductions were quickly made as the crowd started to chatter not from extra visiting as would be the norm - but from increasing chill as the wind blasted through. Off we were then, in reasonably hash like punctuality just before four.

And all round Gordon Head (head who said head) we started to roam, past ball-games and diamonds, through cut-through paths.

We ran past three schools, at least, on the way to the VC (Vodka Check) where martinis of two sorts were served ...

... following flour in small wet patches only Stroke Alone could see. Slow Cooker guided the walkers, High Beams, on her bike and with map in hand, attempted to guide the runners where the flower was washed or blown away. But she claimed to be lost half the time as well.

Eunuch Psycho, our visitor - and soon to be Victoria resident from the Edmonton Hash, enquired frequently as to the whereabouts of "north" and the direction back to his car at the start. And this while always with-in the suburbs and a kilometre or two of the start. Wait till one of more adventuresome hares gets him out on snowy mountain or some such place.

Jack Off jointed us on a break from his work in Eritrea on the east coast of Africa at the Red Sea. He could have been charged with whining about the lack of beer there - but the old hasher didn't start doing that till the on-afters. Apparently its off to Nigeria next for him.

There was a beer check with just sufficient beer, and as the rains started again we circled up sheltering in the lee of the Lambrick Base Ball concession stand. Various charges were laid, and down downs were administered.

On-afters at Maude Hunter's Pub were in the privacy of the deck..

Thanks, Sister Cooker and High Beams for a great run.
